The "Care Studies Strengthening Act" not only contains regulations for care studies, but also useful innovations for parents with statutory health insurance: from 2024, they can receive up to 15 days of child sickness benefit per child and parent, and single parents up to 30 days per year. Without the new law, the special coronavirus rules, which expired at the end of 2023, would have meant a return to the pre-pandemic rates of just 10 or 20 days of child sickness benefit from 2024. The new law will lead to a permanent increase in children's sick days and also fulfils a promise made in the coalition agreement by Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD). The benefit is granted for sick children under the age of 12. A medical certificate is required for child sickness benefit. However, less bureaucracy is planned here: Until now, the certificate had to be submitted on the first day of illness, but Lauterbach promises to extend the deadline to four days. However, this has not yet been decided!
With SaaS.de, the mapping of children's sick days can be easily mapped via a separate reason for absence. This allows employees to keep track of how many children's sick days they have already used in the year.
