Due to new security recommendations and downgrading of the security classification, we unfortunately have to end the support of Android 4.x on 13 July 2020. In 2018, we were able to prevent this by switching to another SSL certificate provider. Now, two years later, we no longer have a technically justifiable option to do so.

Why will the SaaS.de app no longer run on affected devices after 13.07.2020?

On 13.07.2020, we will end support for TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1. This means that we will only allow connections with at least TLS 1.2. What is TLS important for? TLS is used for the secure transport of your personal data (SSL / HTTPS). See also the current recommendations of the BSI.

What will happen on 13.07.2020 with the SaaS.de app on affected devices?

Due to the different implementations of TLS on Android 4.x of the individual manufacturers, we cannot say with absolute certainty whether your device is affected or not. This means that you may not notice the change, but if you do, the app will no longer connect to our servers and the app will only save the bookings (coming and going) on the device and these can then no longer be transferred.

How do I find out which Android version is currently being used?

Open the settings via the app menu of your device. You can recognise these by the cogwheel symbol. Scroll to the menu item "About the phone/tablet" and select it. The Android version entry shows you the Android version currently installed on your device.

What option do you have if you are using an old 4.x installation?

  1. Check whether updates for your device to at least Andoid 5.0 are available from the manufacturer of your device. You will find the necessary procedure for this in the documentation of your device. Tip: Tech-savvy users can also install a custom Rom such as LineageOS on their device.
  2. As a quick solution, the time clock or time recording can also be called up directly in the browser(install the current Chrome via the Google Play Store, only a current browser supports TLS 1.2 and higher) directly on the device. For the time clock https://desktop.saas.de/terminal or for the time recording https://desktop.saas.de/timerecording.
