Every year in August, many young people start their new careers, and we are no different. At EGOTEC AG, our trainees are an important part of the company. During their training with us, they learn all the necessary skills and knowledge and develop personally.
In our previous blog posts "Dealing with trainees part 1 to 5", we described the process of recruiting trainees until they are taken on as permanent employees.
Today we would like to introduce you to our apprentice Enrico Wernado, who is in his first year of training with us as an IT specialist for application development. In the following interview, he gives us some insights into his time at EGOTEC AG so far.
Why did you decide to train as an IT specialist for application development?
I have always been interested in IT and have always wanted to understand the technology behind systems and computers. When I programmed a Lego Mindstorms robot at school, it was clear to me that I wanted to pursue these activities as a career. As I enjoy programming games and Discord bots in my spare time and also looking for solutions to bugs, training as an IT specialist for application development was an obvious choice.
Why did you decide to work at EGOTEC?
I came across EGOTEC AG when I was looking for a suitable apprenticeship. After reading the job advert, I felt very positively attracted and decided to apply to EGTOEC AG. The application process began with a test that covered general knowledge of logical thinking and technical knowledge of Java Script, HTML and much more. At the end of the interview, I was offered a kind of taster internship to decide for myself whether this position would suit me or not. As it turned out later, I was more than impressed by the fresh and good-humoured atmosphere. To summarise, the application process was different to what I had experienced before and I thought it was great that I was able to demonstrate my skills straight away.
What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?
I find it exciting that my activities are very varied and that I can work on development projects for web applications and cloud solutions. As my previous knowledge was recognised immediately, I was given a lot of responsibility right from the start. At EGOTEC, as in every company, there are different areas of work. However, I particularly like the fact that the developers share large offices as a team. This has a positive effect on teamwork, as you support each other.
How did you feel when you started your new job?
The time at the beginning flew by - I had the feeling that I had been with the company much longer than I actually had. Right from the start, I had time to familiarise myself with the different frameworks and structures of the various departments. The trainers' expertise helped me a lot, as I was shown workflows and was then able to apply them in mock-ups. I never felt under pressure and felt very comfortable in the team from the very first minute. The employees are also very helpful and support you with any questions you may have.
What do you want to achieve at EGOTEC AG?
Firstly, I want to complete my training well and at the same time find my feet and establish myself in the world of work. I also want to apply the skills I have learnt in large projects and see how I can make a difference with my changes. As I already have previous experience in development, it is important for me to expand this in the area of web applications and cloud solutions and to better understand the system. At EGOTEC, I want to utilise my strengths and develop personally in the area of IT systems and technical contexts.
